Moving is exciting, but also complex. With our structured checklist you stay on top of everything, from the first planning steps right through to re-registering with the authorities.
Don’t miss a single detail when moving
What you should take care of 3 months before
Find a new tenant
Look for interested parties among friends and acquaintances. Advantage: less effort, possible buy-outs for furniture and flexible arrangements.
Give notice on the apartment
Submit the notice of termination in writing, signed by all main tenants. Send by registered post or deliver in person with written confirmation.
Sort out energy contracts
Note meter readings, cancel or transfer electricity, gas or district heating. Use the opportunity to switch to a better tariff.
Plan a removal company
Compare quotes, define the scope of services and check reviews. Professionals save time and reduce risks during transport.
Clarify renovation & handover
Agree with the landlord what needs to be done. Repair any damage, hand over the apartment in broom-clean condition and create a handover report with photos.
Organise tradespeople
Decide what you will handle yourself and where support makes sense. Compare quotes and pay attention to reviews.
Plan time off work
Speak to your employer and schedule days off for the move and organisation. Special leave is often available.
